Start with what people ask for.
Do not assume that outside attention, technology, photos, or short-term activity is automatically useful.
Get involved and understand impact
Strong service starts with trust. Choose a role that fits your capacity, understand what IAM can promise, and leave local people with more voice and control, not less.
Before you choose
You do not need special nonprofit knowledge to begin. You should know why you are helping, what you can reliably offer, and where community consent or trained supervision is required.
Do not assume that outside attention, technology, photos, or short-term activity is automatically useful.
Choose a time, skill, or financial commitment that can survive ordinary delays and changes.
Private records, direct work with children, field media, and sensitive stories require review and permission.
Choose your path
Each link explains or starts the next step. Opening a portal does not commit you or guarantee placement.
Support education, meals, care, and local follow-through through IAM's established giving path.
Expect: PayPal confirmation. Ask IAM directly about receipts or gift restrictions.
Review the giving pathDescribe your availability, skills, location, accessibility needs, and the support you would need to serve well.
Expect: sign-in, fit review, and added screening for roles involving children or sensitive information.
Start a private applicationExplore a school, faith, research, service-learning, funding, or operational relationship with IAM.
Expect: discussion of shared goals, authority, costs, supervision, data use, and how the community benefits.
Open the partner pathwayHelp correct or preserve a place, date, road, school, trip, or program memory without exposing private records.
Expect: review before a submitted memory is treated as verified or made public.
Share a field memoryImpact without inflated claims
IAM should connect each public claim to a source, date, responsible reviewer, and known limit. Community members must also be able to correct the record or withdraw permission where applicable.
This page does not present an independent audit, a complete program evaluation, or verified totals for people served, dollars used, or long-term outcomes. Those claims should be published only after their records, definitions, review dates, and limits are ready.
Participation safeguards
Direct contact may require role review, supervision, safeguarding rules, and a background check before access is granted.
Collect only what is needed. Do not share sensitive identities, family details, or images without appropriate permission and purpose.
Placement, insurance, health, accessibility, cost, language, transport, and local supervision must be settled before travel is treated as approved.
Email the mission office. Say what you hope to contribute, your available time, your location, and any access or support needs. Do not include private student or family information.
